Times are hard at the moment but at MAS we are continuing do our best to support DBARC with our varied fundraising initiatives.
This message to us from Donna the DBARC Chair of Trustees, really focuses our resolve to keep doing what we do and hope you will continue to support us supporting what they do.
“Like many charities, DBARC has seen it’s income shrink away frighteningly virtually overnight, which makes all that MAS supporters are doing for us so vital. While some aspects of life seem in suspended animation, animals in need ensure we are not, and we must try to be ready for things to come while also maintaining care for those relying on us all right now.
We are being as thrifty as possible, and even have half our staff furloughed to save our funds, but DBARC still has six Schnauzers in our care as well as other animals of course. Bills still come in, even when income doesn’t! Running costs for the Centre are inevitable. Wilma, Wotsit and Elsa are all post operative for their cataract surgeries, and although the cost of the actual operations was paid for, that is only part of their care. Ongoing medications and forthcoming ophthalmologist check ups still have to be paid for, all have needed veterinary interventions unrelated to their eyes, and this is not over for them yet. So the Schnauzers we are currently able to help – with your help – continue to need us.
We are acutely aware that as lockdown is eased, there will be new challenges for us and with your support, we will be able to help other Schnauzers. The plight of Schnauzers in need will sadly not be in suspended animation, even if they may currently be trapped in puppy farm environments, or homes where they are no longer wanted, or perhaps just in foster homes until they can move. Inevitably some will have complex issues, and all will have basic needs. With your support, we will be ready to help. The Coronavirus crisis has brought so much devastation and so much change, but compassion has grown even stronger amongst all the sadness and damage, and that compassion will continue to extend to the innocent little souls we all care so much about”
